Interview: Bor Levičnik - mountaineer

Tell us something about yourself, something interesting.
I'm Bor and I come from the Ljubljana area. I've always been involved in various sports, but I quickly lost interest in everything. I had a serious try at cross-country skiing, but I only really found myself in climbing and later in mountaineering. At 18, I took the mountaineering exam and joined the youth national team, which allowed me to see much more of the world than I could have afforded at the time, in the company of experienced mentors or people I looked up to as a young enthusiast. Climbing opened the door to the world for me and inadvertently offered opportunities that I would have had difficulty getting anywhere else. In addition to sports, I'm a student at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and work as a designer in an engineering company. I also try to capture every beautiful moment in the mountains/nature with my lens as best I can.

What does your average day look like?
For my average day, I usually have 3 options "available": work, college, or sports - most often climbing. I try to use the latter option as much as possible, but otherwise I compromise with afternoon training after work or study.

How do you organize your day?
My day depends mostly on the things that happen to me at a certain time. Of course, I try to do the things I love the most; usually sports, socializing, traveling, partying :)... However, I'm still in college and unfortunately there are times when I "have no life" and I spend them locked in my room with books.
Where does the motivation/energy for your lifestyle come from?
It's hard to answer briefly, but there's no point in wasting too many words here, because anyone who goes to the mountains/does sports knows what I'm talking about. If you do something exclusively because you like it and love doing it, you'll have unlimited energy and motivation, and the above question will become irrelevant. In all other cases, you need to ask yourself if there's any point in doing it at all. Of course, there are days when I'm motivated only to lie on the couch, but those should also be taken into account.

What sports do you do daily or weekly?
Mostly anything that is good training for mountaineering. So climbing, hiking, running...
Favorite spot you like to go to?
I'm still looking for it :)

What does good clothing mean to you?
Personally, this means that it serves its purpose well. For me, such clothes are light, not bulky, minimalist, pleasant on the skin...
What changes once you put on sportswear - does your motivation for something more increase?
Definitely! Memories of past exploits/adventures are rekindling, which gets me going.
What does your sports dressing system look like?
This mainly depends on the current activity. But what they all have in common is that I try to take with me (e.g. to the mountains) only as much clothing as I will really need. The logic of dressing is to prefer several thin layers rather than one very thick one.
Where do you see the advantages of SportHG clothing?
I became interested in SportHG clothing mainly because it is very light, minimalistic in design, and not bulky. This means I can move quickly in it without feeling like I'm being tied down by anything.
What are your future plans?
I'm planning a climbing trip in Scotland in February, and an expedition to the Himalayas in October. The rest is up to me, as inspiration dictates.
Product review (leggings and sweatshirt)
I use both as a first layer for winter activities or as the only layer when it's a little warmer. The first thing that caught my eye was the material. On the one hand, it's robust and at the same time very pleasant to the touch. The material is very thin and light, but surprisingly warm. Both dry very quickly, which is a big advantage when it's cold. I also like the small details like the pockets, the thumbhole and the design itself. I would change it to add an even higher collar, as this way I wouldn't lose unnecessary heat through the neck.
Other products I would have include an ArchMax windbreaker and a technical sweater.
